Terms of Service — Tarteeb

NOT YET REVIEWED BY A LAWYER. This describes how the product actually behaves, verified against the live system on 3 Sep 2026. It must be reviewed by a qualified lawyer before Tarteeb takes on a paying customer — particularly §4 (content ownership), §7 (liability) and §8 (billing), which are commercial positions rather than descriptions of behaviour.

1. What Tarteeb is

Tarteeb lets teachers and coaching centres publish recorded lessons to their own enrolled students. We provide the software. We do not create, own, teach, or verify the lessons.

2. Accounts

• You need an account to use Tarteeb. Keep your login details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.
• Staff accounts require two-factor authentication.
• Give us accurate details. If you enter someone else's details — a centre adding a student, for example — you must have the right to do so.
• We may suspend an account that is being used to break these terms or the law.

If you are a centre or a teacher entering student details, you confirm that:

• You have a lawful basis to hold and enter those details.
• Where the student is under 18, you have obtained any consent required from a parent or guardian before entering them, and you can evidence it if asked.
• You will remove a student's record promptly if they or their guardian ask you to, and you will tell us if you cannot.
• You are responsible to your students for the accuracy of what you enter.

Tarteeb stores this data on your instruction. We do not obtain that consent for you and cannot verify it, which is why it is your obligation and not ours.

This clause is the one that protects Tarteeb, and it is the one most likely to be rewritten in review. It also belongs in the signed commercial agreement, not only here — a click-through term is weaker than a contract.

3. Students and access

• A centre controls who its students are and what they can see. It can grant access with no end date, or access that ends on a chosen date.
• A centre can withdraw access at any time.
• Access to a subject is personal to the student. Sharing your login, or recording, downloading or redistributing lessons, is not permitted and may end your access.

4. Who owns the lessons

• The teacher who uploads a lesson owns it. Tarteeb claims no ownership.
• By uploading, you grant Tarteeb the limited licence needed to host, convert and deliver that content to the students you have chosen. Nothing more.
• Sharing a subject with a centre does not transfer ownership. The centre may list it under its own name and enrol its students; it cannot edit it, claim it, or pass it on to a third party. This is enforced by the software, not merely promised here.
• You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload. Do not upload material you do not own or have licence to use.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use Tarteeb to:

• Upload unlawful material, or material you have no right to distribute
• Harass anyone, or upload content harmful to children
• Attempt to access another centre's or student's data
• Probe, scan, or attempt to break the service, or circumvent the access controls on lessons
• Resell or sublicense the service without our agreement

6. Availability

We aim to keep Tarteeb available, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may take it down for maintenance, and we may change or remove features.

Backups: we currently rely on our infrastructure provider's durability guarantees rather than an independent backup of our own. Keep your own copies of lesson videos.

This is a factual statement of the current position, not a permanent one. It changes when the backup gate in docs/plans/next-steps-sep.md is closed, and this clause must be updated at the same time.

7. Liability

Tarteeb is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or lost data. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Flagged for legal review. Enforceability of this clause depends on the governing law chosen in §10.

8. Fees

Fees for a coaching centre are set in a separate written agreement. There is no in-app payment, no subscription billed through this service, and no automatic renewal. Non-payment under that agreement may lead to suspension.

9. Ending your use

• You may stop using Tarteeb and ask us to close your account at any time.
• A centre may close its account; its students lose access when it does.
• We may end an account that breaks these terms, or is inactive for a long period, with notice where practical.

On closure, data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and the courts of Karachi have jurisdiction.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will say so in the app before it takes effect.
